"Our sons were sent to the Cliffs, never to return..."
The Cliffs of Youth is my latest and biggest personal project to date. I went into it wanting to improve my skills in organic asset creation and world building. The project also allowed me to explore photogrammetry for material creation and storytelling , as well as creating my own composition for once. All manmade assets were made using two trimsheets which I sculped in ZBrush, and textured in Substance Painter. One for wood, and one for metal. The assets were then assigned a secondary UV sets to drive things like dirt and color variation based on an RGBA mask. Due to the sheer size of the organic assets required, I also got to dive into some shaders for world aligned textures, color tint offset, as well as Runtime Virtual Textures on the side to blend everything together. Organic assets were sculpted in ZBrush. All assets were made by me from scratch except for the cacti and grass which are from Megascans, as well as the VFX and skybox which were from the Epic Marketplace. I'd like to thank the Beyond Extent community as well as Katelyn Johnson, Peyton Varney and everyone else who's provided their invaluable help and feedback throughout the project to make it what it is. See you all in the next project!
