Today has been all about wrapping up this project by doing final changes to textures, fixing minor issues with the level, tweaking the lighting one final time, as well as adding books and an ink pot! I'll be uploading the final result tomorrow, but here's a sneak peak ;)

Due to some things in real life I haven't been able to do as much work this weekend as I hoped to, thus I haven't been able to finish everything I planned for. Either way, the cloth is up now and has textures on it, so I'm still pretty pleased.

Today I finally managed to get the lighting just right! I'm very pleased with how it turned out in the end. I also made a door for one of the short walls of the room and everything is finally coming together. There are a few final details (including getting the fabric in engine) but I should hopefully have everything ready before next Monday :D

Today I've been doing some research into Marvelous Designer and trying it out for the first time (!) in an attempt to make fabric I will be hanging from the walls to break up the repetitive pattern of the bricks. I think that for a first attempt it went alright! Tomorrow will be all about retopo, UVs and texturing!

Today I've been remaking the wall module with the windows to add some variation of the walls and further interest to the scene over all. Not sure if I'm 100% pleased but it looks a lot better than before at least! I also made a separate brick and plank in an attempt to break up the pattern of the tiling textures and to add some geo other than the flat planes. All in all I think it came out pretty good! (I also worked some more on the lighting to try and create a moonlight-like effect. Alas to no success yet.) More work awaits tomorrow!

After re-doing the texturing for the window (fortunatly without another crash and corrupted save files) I did a lot of more work on lighting today and I feel like it's all falling into place! I have a few more props to add (2-3) and then I'll most likely do the final lighting pass and get this finished! Hopefully I'll be uploading the finished images this week ^^

Making Of / 02 February 2019

After spending a couple of days focusing almost entirely on school I've finally gotten to work on this project again. This time I decided to add windows to the scene and did some minor work to the lighting (damn lighting is hard!). Allthough I had a Substance Painter crash (which naturally corrupted my save file) I did manage to get the WIP texture exported before that. I still need to do the actual glass texture for it but otherwise I find the windows coming along quite nicely.

Today was probably the last day working on the models and textures of the environment. There's more to change but I need to finish the project. I'll most likely spend no longer than 3-4 days more, which will focus entirely on lighting. What I did today was correcting some UVs, slightly tweaking the stair mesh and finishing the wood planks material.

Making Of / 22 January 2019

Due to RL reasons I was unable to upload anything during Friday evening as planned and has been unable to work this past weekend. I did however during Friday make some progress earlier in the day resulting in a carpet and getting the final wroughts in engine. Today (Tuesday since I took Monday off from this project for other tasks at hand) I have started making a Wooden Plank Material in Substance Designer for use as the floor material to create variation in the scene. I've also started to re-light the scene, but a lot of work remains to be done.
